Okay so I have a crappy little notebook which doesn't want to tell me what monitor I'm using. Is there a free program which will scan for updates and download them for me?
I don't want to have to pay for anything and my real problem is my screen resolution. Damn Advent!
Sound like you need the graphics card driver (not the monitor driver). Try Windows Update first of all..they often free device drivershave them. Check for Optional Updates (or Custom).
Next try the manufacturers website for your notebook model. This is where the drivers should be.
If you still have no luck then you will need to find out what type of graphics card is in your notebook. Search the model of your notebook and the word specifications. This should find it.
If it is an Intel Chip it will most lifree device driverskely be Intel graphics but it could be ATI or Nvidia.
Then go to Intel, ATI or Nvidia website to download the appropriate drivers.
Advent made the computer so go their website and download all the drivers for your model. Seems unfair of you to blame the computer because you haven't done this already.
goto the manufactures website. ALL Drvier updates are FREE.
