I am having trouble with my internet. My internet provider is comcast.
Internet is working on my desktop which is connected through ethernet through my Linksys router (Model No. WRT160N) which is connected to my comcast cable modem but it isn't working on my HP Pavilion dv5 laptop. It says that it is connected but there is no little earth symbol on the bottom of my toolbar.
I've already reset the router and modem and restarted both computers. I've tried connecting my laptop via ethernet and I am now trying to conusb cable modem driver downloadnect it through a USB cable that I took from my printer.
Btw, I set up the router myself and know the username and password. It was just working fine yesterday but not today.
I just don't know which software to download and how do I know which? I don't know what model modem I have.
PLEASE TELL ME WHICH DRIVER I NEED TO DOWNLOAD OR TELL ME A SOLUTION TO SOLVE THIS.
look at your post ! if the internet is working on your desktop would it not be a safe guess that the issues is not with your internet connectiusb cable modem driver downloadon but the laptop it's self . sounds like you have a stacked winsock to me , do a google for XP winsock fix , also just so you are aware you can not use the USB and Ethernet connections at the same time from your modem
Without knowing the brand and model, there is no way to guess which driver you need. There are literally thousands of them. You will need to look on the router and at least get the manufacturer's name. Then go to their website and look for the driver there.
