In your opinion, what is better when wanting to get somewhere. I personally like a map. My wife always gives me directions which I can read while driving. I've asked her to print out maps. She always prints directions. Too many words, just show me the picture...Is this a woman thing....words over pictures....
It's really no big deal....I always know where I'm going and never need to ask directions.......that's a man thing........

O.k. seriously - I guess I've never realized this, but I (female) prefer 'words' because they're direct. Pictures are open to interpretation.
i like directions. i can read a map, but i like to know the street names and stuff. i get lost alot though.
Compromise...have her do make quest and print both

Maps. If someone messes up directions, you get lost and have to do a lot of work to get back into a position where you can follow the directions again. With a map, you just figure out your new locaiton & start from there.

Go with whatever gets you there the fastest and without you getting lost.
Maps. There are women out there who do know how to read a map. I am one of them.
I usually do map-quest. That gives you both. For me it's easier to read directions when I'm driving, but I also like to have a map for reference. I understand maps just fine. Directions don't have to be long. Just the name of the road and the direction I should turn. To me that's quicker than finding the road on the map. But I am able to do either.

I personally prefer maps. I learned to find my way around using the thomas guide and I like it best. When I had friends give me directions they seemed to get the lefts and rights wrong and who wants to be looking for a tree or gas station when the street names and numbers are available in the guide?
So keep a map in the car and stop complaining.

Comprimise with a GPS it shows you a map and you can make it talk so it is like giving youask maps driving directions directions. A GPS is perfect except for the price tag

I like both and can use both. But I think I like directions a little more because I can get a word into my head and know what I'm looking for, rather than looking at a map and trying to find out what the name of the street that I'm looking for is. But either way is fine with me.
For us female-folk it's always words. We love to talk; some more than others. That's right you always know where you are going and even if you are lost you still know where you are going cause that is always a man thing so that' why I won't say a word except for "now don't worry dear you'll get there." I read this book that was talking about this very subject and it gave a very good example of what you are talking about. Be danged if I remember the name of the book.
I've read that women are not as good as men in spacial reasoning so maps are hard for them to relate into relative terms...on the other hand - women like to talk so words on a paper are more their cup-o-tea. Hope that does not offend the "fairer sex" crowd out there - those are facts, not sexist rantings.
